All Dolled Up

Custom orders can be so much fun. It helps me practice creating items not usual for my shop. This top was created for a fun loving gal that is not afraid to step outside the box when it comes to fashion. She loves my "Little miss sunshine" top, in store, and wanted the fabric used in a more "adult" fashion. The belt gives this top more shape. I hope she loves it, it will be on its way to her today. It is the last of my orders, Bella and I will be taking a much needed break next week. I hope to make myself something!!

Oh Happy Day

Extreme Fun at Auntie Sara and Cousin Belle's Splashpark! Madeline bonding with one of Bella's most special friends.
What a wonderful week this has been. My niece Madeline is off for the summer. She came from our hometown of Tucson to visit. It has been a busy, busy week of finishing up orders while playing with the girls. It has actually worked out wonderfully, while I am busy sewing away, she is creating a mish mosh of items with my Cricut cutter! She has a new love, and is as addicted to it as I am! We also found this wonderful stuff today at the Arizona Museum of Youth called "floam." Way better than playdoh, not messy, and non-toxic. Tomorrow will be a day of scrapbooking for Madeline. She wishes to archive this trip in a special way, so off we go to the craft store for supplies! ( Oh Darn!)
Yesterday, we had a barbecue with uncle Adrian and auntie Rene. Very special. Just a week of family, and I couldn't feel more blessed.
Just hangin around
What an interesting one this is, my brother 6'7" tall, and almost as tall as this HUGE slide at the playground! Amazing!

Special order

{Navy linen side tie top} {Butterfly Kisses}

Still finishing up the rush of orders....one is for a seven year old girl, I have never sewn for children of that age, a lot more fabric was required than I imagined! She loves butterflies, this designer fabric was just perfect for her. Another, a special request for lightweight tops to brave the summer heat in. This navy blue, lightweight linen top is just what came to mind. I am very pleased with the drape of this fabric, so breezy, very soft. I hope the recipients mommy is happy!

Rain or Shine

Yesterday we paid visit to the Phoenix Zoo. Something we frequent in the nicer months. Bella loved seeing the animals, never before had I seen them so active. It was probably the nicest day of the year so far. The lions were actually out roaming around attempting to "hunt" any innocent bird that flew their way.

It was the second to last nice day of the season for us here in Phoenix, (today being the last). It was cloudy all day, then rained the last part of the day. What a blessing for us here in the Estrella Mountains, we never get rain. The hills seem to block all precipitation from reaching us. Some find that magical, others, like me find it tragic.

Right now, as I type this, Bella is in the backyard in her "swimming pool" playing in the mud/rainwater that has collected there overnight. It is simply a small plastic turtle that is a sandbox. We converted it into a pool when her grandfather built a magnificent gazebo sandbox for her by hand. I don't hold her back, so what, she gets muddy and wet. Cold as well, but she loves to be free, naked running amok. I grew up on a small farm for half of my childhood, and these are the memories I have, ones I am trying to create for her, here in suburbia- ville.

Zoo right next to airport, free entertainment, why didn't we just sit in the parking lot and watch the planes for free? Bella swing! She says...
Poor goat, just trying to get some shuteye, all the kids kept pestering him....Sounds kinda like me!

Interview

Finished with another order. Love, love, love these basic white capris. They are made of a medium weight gauze, and are virtually stain resisitant. I don't know what it is, but this fabric washes up so well. Stains all over it, and pull them out of the machine, stain free. Bella has worn hers for over 2 years now, capris are so versatile for kids, they can be too long, or short, and still fit forever. I am so glad to be offering them with this adorable halter top. Very classy, and classic. Ok, so I am obsessed with making handmade buttons. I have always loved to make them, and crave attire that begs for a button like this. So anyways, I decided to make some buttons, and turn them into hair clippies to match this outfit.

Tonight I have an interview with the "My Hometown Estrella" newspaper. It is a publication that comes out in our community every month. They always "spotlight" an entrepreneur in the community. I thought, hey, that would be neat to be featured! So here i go, off to talk about my little Etsy shop, with high hopes to promote not just My shop, but simply buying handmade.

The Long Haul

Busy, Busy, Busy. Bella and I have been so very busy sewing lately. A small gush of orders all at once is keeping us on our toes! We do, although, have to make time for other things. How fun is it to run through a hallway at a friend's house screaming at the top of your lungs pushing a shopping cart!? Bella and her little pal played for almost an hour today in the backyard "pool." Give a kid a teeny tiny plastic pool with 6 inches of water in it, and there you go, instant joy. Then afterwards, grimy feet and all, they chased each other through the hallway screeching with glee as they took turns pushing the cart. "What in the heck did we do for fun before these girls?" my girlfriend and I always say.

Lady Yang

What a wonderful Mothers Day it was, hope all of you enjoyed your day. Lots of great food, and family. My brother, chef by trade, whipped us all up something delightful!

On another marathon browsing session at the fabric store, Bella and I stumbled upon the most glorious fabrics. I could be heard by passing customers, "Oh Bella, you have to stop me! There are so many wonderful fabrics, and I don't need any more!" People probably thought I was nuts. I came across this: Lady Yang by Alexander Henry. I placed it back on the shelf several times before taking it to get cut. I had plans for it. With the finished product in front of me, I am not sure if it would look better in a halter style. Maybe some of you could help me out with your feedback! It is very bold, and the gold stars on the bloomers are a hoot! Surely to get noticed.

Good Wine, Good Friends

Tonight was a success! Met a lot of great people, and got to introduce the gals to handmade! They were impressed!

Private Showing

I've got a private showing tonight of my clothing line. It is in our community, my good pal Jill is gracious enough to host a party of her own, and let me join in.. I have a wonderful client that has ordered several items from me, and is patiently waiting for me to ship them after the showing tonight! I feel so lucky to be able to share my my creations with all these hard working moms and dads out there. Thank you everyone that has believed in me. I still can't believe that I am even doing this, I pondered for 2 months before even opening shop, would this work out? I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you.

A new frontier

Bella and I are learning to blog together, thought I wouldn't have time for this, but hey, thought I would give it a shot. Might be an easy way for people to get to know us!
