New Addiction

Bella and I have stumbled upon something new recently. Purchasing lovely clothing from other sellers on Etsy. I am officially addicted. We just received this beautiful piece from rosiegoa.etsy.com. If you haven't found her store yet, you are missing out. Just take a peek at all the beautiful, and vibrant fabrics that envelop her shop. I can't wait to purchase more from her. Bella immediately put the dress on when it came in the mail, and she hates wearing clothing in the summer months. (go figure)

Baby Love

What a wonderful Father's Day it was. I asked Steve what he wanted to do, believe it or not, all he wanted was to just be able to relax around the house! My, what a concept. At one point, a usually not cuddly, touchy-feely Bella was caught relaxing on Papas chest. Ahhhh.

Extreme Splashpark Fun!

Now that it is getting REALLY hot here in Phoenix, Bella and I are ready for something refreshing. We decided to meet a bunch of our really good work buddies at Tempe Beach Park today. Water, water everywhere. Next time I will wear a suit. There are kids everywhere, running amok, not a care in the world. Little "playground" style slides are incorporated into the splash pad, where big and little kids come sliding down like bullets onto the ground below with only about an inch of water below to cushion. Bella is the type to "watch" all the other children, not really ready to join in quite yet. She is very leery of the waterfalls, and any other type of spraying water, avoiding it at all costs, when others are running full speed ahead. All in all, it was a perfect day, now we nap....ahh sweet bliss...

Heirloom Baby Collection

I am really excited, I have been sewing for my neice Gracie, she is due on Bella's 3rd birthday. I haven't sewn hardly anything for babies. When Bella was this small, I was too tired to even think about it! Now, I can have all the fun creating for Gracie. I don't just want to give her Anything. I need it to be really special. I am obsessed with all the heirloom clothing that I have in my cedar chest that my grandmother and mother gave me. This new collection of fashions is inspired by the clothing worn by my mother in the late fourties. Simple, but well made. Being able to be passed down through the generations. The styles soon to be offered in store will be able to be worn by either gender, and colors will be available that either boys or girls can wear. This collection will be the perfect baby shower gift, I will present Gracie's collection of wares to her mother at the shower that I am to host for her.

Fresh Picks

Another custom, what fun! I love this apples and pears fabric, and so does the mommy that ordered these fun bloomers. I was put to the test, working with "minky" fabric showed to be a bit challenging. Hard to press, and slippery at times. I have hardly any experience working with fabric with so much "pile". It felt like a soft teddy bear while handling it. All and all, I think they turned out rather nice! Totally all girl...

One other challenge Bella and I faced this week was a angel food cake. We made it from scratch, it took us awile just to make the batter. I have this nonstick angel food cake pan that someone gave me, I placed it in the pan, halfway through baking (no I didn't open the oven door) it collapsed. I took it out of the oven after the time alotted, and it wasn't cooked all the way. Any bakers out there that would like to lend me some tips, that would be peachy. I love this kind of cake, and would like to be able to make one successfully! This is the second time we have attempted a cake like this. Maybe the non-stick pan?

Completion

I had so much fun making this for myself! Believe it or not, this is one of the only items that will hang in my closet that I have made just for me! I love it, the square collar adds dimension, but not too constricting. I am now offering it in the shop for Ladies and Little Ladies.

Something for ME

This top is my latest working. I have been blessed with the time this Monday to create something for myself. I am working with a very lightweight burgundy linen, perfect for this sweltering Phoenix heat. I love to show my items "under construction" It is so neat to me when I see a garment come together. I need to add buttons, finish the armholes, and hem. The buttons are a tough one for me, it takes me awile to find just the "right" ones. I will probably place buttons from my grandmothers button box on this top. This is a top I have been wanting to make for myself, and offer in my shop for a while. This beauty will be available for "Mommy and Me" in size S and M, then in size 2T-6. It will also be available with long sleeves.
